Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, is the most significant and vibrant festival celebrated across India and by various communities worldwide. Spanning four days of joy and festivity, Diwali holds cultural and religious importance not only for Hindus but also for Jains, Buddhists, and Sikhs. The festival symbolizes the return of Lord Ram to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile and his triumph over the demon king Ravana. On this special day, the people of Ayodhya welcomed Lord Ram with rows of lit diyas, creating a scene of resplendent light and joy throughout the kingdom.
Dussehra, popularly known as Vijayadashami or Dasara, is one of the most significant Hindu festivals symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. It unites millions of devotees who celebrate this victory through cultural and spiritual festivities. According to Hindu mythology, Dussehra marks the day when Lord Rama defeated the demon king Ravana, symbolizing the victory of righteousness. It is also celebrated as the day when Goddess Durga triumphed over the buffalo demon Mahishasura, showcasing her power and the triumph of divine justice.
Gandhi Jayanti, celebrated annually on 2nd October, marks the birth anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, revered as Mahatma Gandhi and known as the Father of the Nation. He was an eminent leader in India’s struggle for independence from British colonial rule. Gandhi’s principles of non-violence (Ahimsa), truth (Satya), and civil disobedience have had a profound impact on movements for freedom and justice worldwide. In a world grappling with conflicts and violence, Gandhi Jayanti serves as a reminder to uphold these timeless ideals in both our personal and collective lives.
